Clarence House Shanklin - Rated 9.6 by recent guests
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the world and affected everyone in so many different ways. As individuals we have been affected by it personally here at
Clarence House so we are very aware of the risks.
We are open for self – catering (the Victoria, Alexandra apartment, and the Clarence House Cottage) and the from 12th April.
Our Albert Studio, Beatrice Suite, Charlotte and Leopold and our new Alice room will be open from 17th May in accordance with government guidelines. Bookings will be fully
refundable if you are later unable to travel due to new lockdowns.
Refunds / Postponement. Please rest assured if you book now for a period in the future, and government travel restrictions are re-imposed, we will not penalise you for cancellation or
postponement of your stay with us at Clarence House. We can not, however refund guests if they need to self isolate at short notice. This is because it will be very hard to replace the
booking and inexpensive travel insurance is now available to cover this contingency, which we recommend taking out. This company for example gave a quote for 7 day UK
summer holiday for a family of 3 for under £12.
Below is further information that you may find helpful when considering your plans:
Travel. Advice from the 2 ferry companies is available here: Red Funnel and Wightlink. We offer a special Clarence House discount on Wightlink bookings of 15% at all times.
We are required to collect contact details from all guests over 16 for Test and Trace purposes and the app upon arrival is available for this purpose.
Apartments and Social Distancing. All our apartments are self contained, so are actually rather well adapted to keeping oneself to oneself. You may meet guests on the path and in the hallway, but we have arranged for hand sanitising gel to be available before entry into the building, so guests can help us to ensure the common areas remain free from infection.
Cleaning. The government has published advice about cleaning in non-healthcare settings, which we will be adhering to. In fact this was the standard that we were already using, as shown by our many 10/10 ratings on reviews for cleanliness. This is thanks to the excellent work by our housekeeping team. One change we had to make is to extend the time
available for cleaning by adjusting the check in and checkout times and we hope guests will be sympathetic to this.
Things to Do. The Isle of Wight has a plethora of good places to go walking. Cycling and general exercise. Many of the wonderful pubs and restaurants will soon be open again though it is essential to book as space is limited; there are many takeaway options and all apartments have well equipped kitchens.
Main house. Communal areas are unfortunately closed due to Covid 19 regulations. The piano room is available to sit in and also to use to bring your takeaway back and eat it (we appreciate your not risking curry stains on our sheets). It is open between the ours of 1000 and 2200 as there is a family apartment beneath it. Please check whether it is in use first because only one household may use it at any one time. Thank you for your understanding.
